Demystifying Science and Scientists
Public misunderstanding and mistrust of science and scientists have generated a voting public that is skeptical of climate change, opposed to vaccines, and scientifically illiterate. Perceived economic interests or self-promotion have often eroded the capital of trust scientists once had, and lack of diversity at all levels has made it difficult for people to identify with and therefor trust scientists. In this unjust climate filled with “fake news” and fear mongering, now is a crucial time to support the innovation of science communication practice.
